8.6.55 AT1014 21m hike to West Virginia

David Lessor Shelter

Got a great sleep in our tent by the mountain stream. As soon as we finished eating breakfast the rains came and lasted all day until we got to our new shelter. The place is in total chaos with 2 full boy-scout troops and day hikers. We found a tent spot ate and found some water had gotten in our sleeping bags. Tomorrow should be no rain.

Virginia closed with a 13 mile hike through "The Rollercoaster" up down around and through rocky terrain.

Tomorrow is a 9 mile hike into Harpers Ferry. We'll go to the AT Conservatory to get our picture taken. This town is considered the half way marker. Though the trail gets longer every passing year. The official AT Thru hike for 2017 is 2191 miles. That's 3 miles longer than 2016.

The AT "Green Tunnel" is finally showing itself! Spring is finally here. We are getting excited about moving out of the south to the more familiar Northern States.

It's been a great adventure!
