14.3.94 AT1808 16m hike

Eliza Brooks Shelter

Got out by 6am to hike Mount Mooselake. Absolutely stunning mountain. It's one of the options given to Incoming Dartmouth College freshman to climb during orientation week. John Jr. Hiked it.

Dans legs are back 100%! He's kicking my butt on both uphills and downhills. I'm a little slow on catching up to his uptake in velocity but after the last mile I think I'm back.

The whites are different. A lot of rock hopping on wet rocks and roots to miss the mud. Steep uphills and downhills. I'm up to 39 falls. Dan is at 6.

Well 1 mile before the Shelter it thundered lightning and hailed. I took my shirt off and put rain pants on and put war paint on and ran with my backpack and spears in hand to the Shelter and did a Tarzan yell and attacked the Shelter with spears raised. Dan wasn't expecting me but had his video tape rolling.

Ahh tomorrow another adventure!
